Recognizing the crucial role of proper packaging and label designs in boosting the competitiveness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the local and international markets, DOST-CAR has conducted a forum with stakeholders in Kalinga and Mountain Province on August 26-27, 2021.
DOST-CAR Regional Director Nancy Bantog led the event, which is in the run-up to the establishment of a regional Packaging Innovation Center (PIC) in La Trinidad, Benguet. Subsequently, beneficiaries composed of firms and organizations in the areas enrolled under the DOST-CAR’s Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) and Local Grants-In-Aid program were awarded short-run printing designs.
There were six beneficiaries in Bontoc, Mountain Province, namely: Munfiaron Kaleo Organization, Tingey Farmers Org., Nesmar Enterprise, Local Government Unit of Bauko, Betwagan Pewong Irrigators Association Inc., and Besao Organic Planters Assoc.; and 5 in Tabuk City, Kalinga on August 27, namely KALIPI-Malagnat, Kalinga State University, Bulanao Multipurpose Cooperative and Kalasag FIA.
DOST-CAR continues to support MSMEs and organizations in the Cordillera communities through the provision of world-class, innovative and sustainable packaging solutions as well trainings and technical and consultancy services.//
